A Backstage Wine Tasting Experience in Napa Valley for Music and Art Lovers: Cliff Lede

You’ve all heard it of – Napa Valley! Home of some of the best wineries in the world.

While wine lovers come to the region to indulge in some of the most famous wineries across the globe, one winery stands out not only for its wine but also for its unique experience where wine, art, and music come together.

Before we dive in, I recommend enjoying this blog post with a glass of wine and a playlist. Click here to listen to the playlist on Spotify; we’ll explain why it matters later.

If you’re planning a visit to Napa Valley, make sure to explore Cliff Lede, a winery that elevates wine tasting and art through the power of music. Founded in 2002 by Cliff Lede, a passionate entrepreneur with a love for wine, music, and art, this 60-acre estate is nestled in Napa’s Stags Leap District. Over the years, it has gained recognition for its Bordeaux-style wines that beautifully capture the essence of the region’s terroir.

What makes Cliff Lede Vineyards special is its strong commitment to the arts. Lede shares his personal art collection with the public and also partners with world class art curators to create a unique connection between the world of wine and contemporary art. The vineyard’s dedication to the arts is most evident in its pop-up art gallery, a dynamic space that showcases a rotating selection of captivating artworks.

The Pop-Up Art Gallery Experience

When you visit Cliff Lede Vineyards, be sure to book the Backstage Tasting Tour. This exclusive tour takes you behind the scenes and offers you a pass to their cool pop-up art gallery that features rotating art pieces from collectors worldwide while sipping on their elevated single vineyard, appellation series, platinum and library wines.

This lively gallery, located next to the tasting room, is always changing, showcasing diverse artworks by talented artists. Each visit promises something new and exciting.

During our experience visiting the property, we had the privilege of seeing limited edition pieces from The LENNON Art Collection and a collaboration between Bernie Taupin and Terry O’Neill.

On this tour, you’ll also learn about the art of winemaking, the history of music and art, and get to enjoy some of Napa’s finest wines. The gallery’s ever-changing exhibitions ensure that every visit is a fresh exploration of various artistic perspectives, making no two visits the same.

What sets this wine tasting experience apart is its innovative approach to winemaking, inspired by some of Cliff Lede’s favorite and most iconic songs in history. Each grape block in their vineyard is named after an iconic song, and when it’s time to make a new batch, they create a unique blend by combining two different songs or “Rock Blocks” as they refer to it. These mashups serve as the inspiration for the wine’s name. To keep the magic alive, they have a rule: never blend the same two songs, ensuring that each blend is truly one-of-a-kind and limited edition.

Now, we bring you back to the importance of the playlist. Each song on the playlist corresponds to one of the “Rock Blocks” from which they harvest grapes. This means that as you sip your wine, you’re quite literally savoring the essence of the very vineyard block named after the song you’re hearing. It’s a collaboration of music and wine that transforms your tasting into a multisensory journey.

One of the most beautiful aspects of Cliff Lede’s pop-up art gallery is its location to the vineyard’s natural surroundings. The gallery’s large windows offer panoramic views of the estate’s meticulously manicured vineyards, providing a backdrop that enhances the appreciation of the artwork. Following your tour, take a leisurely stroll around the estate to discover the unique Rock Blocks. And you will really enjoy sitting in their courtyard, where you can savor a glass of wine in a picturesque setting.

So, whether you are a wine lover, an art enthusiast, or simply seeking a unique and enriching experience, a visit to Cliff Lede’s pop-up art gallery is sure to leave a lasting impression.
